Celebrating 10 Sweet Years: St. Elmo Scoop Shop Anniversary Party

Clumpies Ice Cream Co. is celebrating the tenth anniversary of our St. Elmo Scoop shop. To mark this milestone, we’re throwing a party on our patio and you’re invited! Swing by our St. Elmo scoop shop on March 22, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., for birthday cake ice cream, lawn games and a local vendor market. 

For the past ten years, our St. Elmo scoop shop has been serving up sweet moments and smiles to locals and visitors alike. Since opening in 2015 at the Incline Railway Station, it has become a cherished part of this historic neighborhood. Through every season—and even a few challenges, like the pandemic and the temporary Incline closure due to fire—one thing has remained constant: the incredible support from our community. We’re so grateful to have been a part of your memories for the past decade! 

Join us on the patio for a scoop or two and challenge your friends or family to game of corn hole, Jenga Giant or Connect Four. The legendary Cone Throne is making an appearance, so grab a seat, strike a pose and snap a pic. You can’t miss the stunning balloon display from Balloon Babes, another local Chattanooga company. A perfect backdrop to capture sweet memories as you browse, shop, and support these amazing makers in our community.

Chattanooga first got a taste of Clumpies Ice Cream Co. in 1999 with the opening of its flagship location on Frazier Ave. Started by Marshall Brock, the son of a third generation candy maker, the scoop shop gained fans for its creative flavors and micro-batch process. In 2013 See Rock City, Inc. acquired the fledging creamery with big plans for growth. Our first milestone? Opening a second location in St. Elmo in 2015. The following year saw the first launch of our seasonal Featured Flavors. These continue to be produced each spring, summer, fall, and winter along with special releases for Valentine’s Day and other holidays. 

In 2017, Clumpies’ production facility moved from a small space in Chattanooga’s Southside to a large production facility near St. Elmo. This enabled us to start pasteurizing our ice cream mix in house and expand our flavor offerings. Each inclusion like cake, cookie bites and jams, is made in house by a small team. 

Our third scoop shop opened on Market Street across from the Chattanooga Choo Choo. This location has grown in popularity over the years. Those who craved Clumpies outside of Chattanooga had the opportunity to purchase online for the first time in 2018 with the launch of our online store. We’re proud to offer ice cream lovers across the country Clumpies delivery straight to their door via our Pint Packs. 

In 2019-2023 we continued to make upgrades to our production facility and transitioned to pasteurizing our ice cream base in house full time. We even upgraded to a 200-gallon capacity pasteurizer doubling the size of our original one. This opened up a world of possibilities for new flavor creation and development and production capacity. 

We celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2024 and making a commitment to sustainability. Our plans involve moving to completely compostable products by the end of 2025. This includes all cups, spoons, and Pint Pack shipping supplies! We are proud to say we are on track to accomplish this goal. 

While our St. Elmo location will be celebrating 10 years this March, we can’t help but reflect on the past 25. Through passion and partnerships Clumpies Ice Cream Co. continues to deliver the best micro-batched ice cream with the highest quality ingredients, only 9-gallons at a time.
